Second International
Medical Opinion
How can you help your business beneficiaries?
Our Second International Medical Opinion Service ensures that the beneficiaries of your company get a second diagnosis either to confirm a degenerative disease or to obtain a second assessment in a complex case of orthopedic surgery and treatment methods, among others. A request is submitted by phone, e-mail, or other electronic systems (online forms) to International Health Solutions, located in the United States. After validating eligibility, the company’s medical department will select the best specialists in any part of the world which they consider of proven relevance in order to suggest options to the consulting patient. This allows them to obtain the opinion of the best specialists in the world and to have a list of recommendations from expert physicians to treat each condition.

When an individual receives a misdiagnosis or when the medical treatment used is not the most effective, the consequences can lead to:
- Greater damage to health (sometimes even disability or death)
- Expensive and risky surgical procedures that are unnecessary
- Greater work absenteeism
- Reduced productivity
- Insurance claims
The benefits of having a second medical opinion are:
- Fewer complications and better health results
- Greater life expectancy and better quality of life
- Avoidance of surgical procedures, drug treatments, and other expensive services
- Quicker rehabilitation and recovery
- A faster return to worK
- Reduction of health insurance claims
How does the Second International Medical Opinion work?
The second medical opinion is basically a comprehensive report on the patient’s situation. It indicates if a condition has been found, the stage of development, and recommended treatments. Once the user fills in a form and attaches all pertinent tests, the Second International Medical Opinion services facilitate access to the best professionals in each field.
After validating eligibility, all this information is submitted to expert physicians, who evaluate it and prepare a report that confirms the initial result or provides a second opinion. The most important point to keep in mind is that this is a service designed only for people who suffer from serious, chronic, recurrent, or acute diseases, and it cannot be requested in the event of an emergency that needs to be addressed immediately. In some cases, this second diagnosis also gives the patient access to the most prestigious hospitals in the world treating pathologies such as cancer, either thanks to coverage in the USA, which allows access to any hospital in the world, or to the opinion/diagnosis received, which eventually gives access to treatments in those centers at special prices if the patient’s disease requires treatment by the intervening physician or medical center. Having the support of the most renowned centers is an advantage as it provides patients with further reassurance. Either because of their medical condition or thanks to agreements, they can attend clinics specialized in each pathology to receive the treatment indicated in the second medical opinion report.
Collections Management
Latin America is undergoing unprecedented economic growth. This situation, combined with the process known as “globalization” and the exponential increase in tourism in the region (50% in the last decade) has led to an increasing number of cases of medical care (hospitalizations, emergencies, deliveries, etc.).
The international health market is expanding and developing in an increasingly changing context in which it is essential to anticipate and adapt so as not to be left behind. This is why IHS puts all its knowledge and experience at the service of its clients to address solutions to specific problems in terms of bill collection, and we deal with them in a step-by-step process:

ADMISSION
Our services are aimed at helping hospitals, clinics, medical centers, and doctors find administrative solutions to the services provided.

- Does the patient have insurance?
- Does the patient have to pay a copayment?
- Does the patient’s insurance include coverage abroad?
- What is the limit of the patient’s insurance?
- What precautions should be taken to minimize the risks of uncollectible bills?
These are some of the questions that arise in dealing with international patients, and our role is to answer them. Finding for each situation, a solution.

COLLECTION
After patient care, a stage begins in which our flexibility and know-how allow us to adapt the invoices and reports that the Medical Provider usually generates to what the Payer (insurance, assistance company, etc.) needs in order to analyze, process, and make payment. We are the ones who carry out this process.

PAYMENT
After submitting the claim and following up on its collection, we remit the money collected as per the client's instructions, into their account in the currency of their choice.
Additional Services
- Advice and consultancy in the international health market. Contracts, unexplored business units, travel assistance.
- Translation of medical documentation and invoices
- Invoice coding according to international standards

Development of Business Relations
Our philosophy goes beyond our ability to provide an administrative solution. Our intention is also to serve as a bridge to create business relationships with the world, unlock negotiations on bill payments and collection and seek long-term agreements. Promoting the services of an institution in the international market can be a significant challenge, and we want to work with you by applying our experience and know-how, helping to consolidate relationships and drive their growth along with the businesses of both suppliers and insurance companies.
We are also strongly committed to collaborating to identify international patient niches in the provider's area of influence and help you implement the appropriate tactics to attract each particular group of international patients. For a reasonable rate, we can help insurance companies and assistance service providers connect to healthcare providers to give their beneficiaries access to a broader and more reliable network of healthcare providers.

Why IHS?
